The name is Persian and translates to “the royal spring”. This Mughal Garden is not located far from the noted Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh, which are the renowned Mughal gardens in Kashmir. The Cheshma Shahi is similar and has a historical spring which is believed to have many medicinal cures. One of the top offbeat places to Visit in Kashmir.

The actual name is ‘Tu Shah Maidan’ which means the king meadow. This name was given by rulers of the history for being majestically large. This vast meadow makes way to the Tosamaidan Pass, which has high importance in historical terms. Many fierce battles have taken place here and it is one of the oldest routes to move in and out of the valley. Mughals used this Pass as a major route. Breathtakingly beautiful is this alpine meadow.
